ABOUT THE JOURNAL

IONTech Journal is published by the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) of Institut Sains dan Teknologi Al-Kamal. The journal publishes scientific works in the fields of science and technology by leading academics across Indonesia. It aims to advance national scholarly publications as part of the development of science and technology and their application to society. IONTECH is published twice a year in February and August.

FOCUS AND SCOPE

IONTech publishes research articles, literature reviews, and case reports in  Engineering and Pharmacy, covering both basic and applied research.

The Engineering domain includes industrial, mechanical, chemical, and civil engineering, informatics engineering, data science, biotechnology, and device and process innovations.

The Pharmacy domain encompasses pharmaceutics and biopharmaceutics, pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry/biological pharmacy, natural products and marine pharmacy, pharmacology and toxicology, clinical and community pharmacy, pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacoeconomics, as well as social pharmacy with management and marketing.

The journal also welcomes Interdisciplinary research at the intersection of engineering and pharmacy, including digital health and Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), nanotechnology and pharmaceutical materials, bioinformatics and big data, artificial intelligence and blockchain, and stem cell research.

TYPES OF PAPER

Original Research Article. Reports of new research within IONTECH’s scope; must be free from plagiarism.

Review Article. Critical, comprehensive literature reviews; must be free from plagiarism.

MANUSCRIPT CONTENT

Title. Concise, specific, and informative (max 20 words in Indonesian; English version follows translation).

Authors & Affiliations. Names without titles; complete affiliation (institution, address, city, postal code, country).

Abstract. 100–250 words (ID & EN): brief background, objective, methods, results & discussion, conclusion; single paragraph.

Keywords. 3–5 keywords

Introduction. Background and objective (stated at the end); supported by up-to-date references.

Methods. Materials & instruments, design, procedures, analysis; presented as subsections (not flowcharts).

Results & Discussion. Structured, integrated, coherent; with up-to-date citations.

Conclusion. Answers the objective; not merely a data summary.

Acknowledgments. (Optional) Parties providing moral/financial support.

References. APA style; ≥10 references (≥80% primary). Use Mendeley/EndNote/Zotero.

STYLE AND FORMATTING

Length. Maximum 20 pages.

Font & Layout. Must follow the official IONTECH template.

PEER-REVIEW PROCESS

Double-blind review by 1–2 reviewers. Decisions: accepted, accepted with revision (minor/major), or rejected.

Plagiarism check using Turnitin/Grammarly, Etc; tolerance max. 25%.

PUBLICATION ETHICS

Refers to the COPE Guidelines for authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

Publisher. Maintain process integrity, editorial independence, scholarly communication, open access & digital preservation.

Editors. Fair, confidential, free from conflicts of interest.

Reviewers. Objective, confidential, support editorial decisions.

Authors. Original work, proper citation, no duplication/simultaneous submission, adhere to research ethics, ready to correct errors.

ARTICLE CHARGES

Article publication is free of charge; no APC/publication fees.

AUTHORSHIP AND PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism & Originality. Manuscripts must be original and not published/under review elsewhere; proper citation is mandatory. Plagiarism must not exceed 25%. The first author is the main contributor; the corresponding author is responsible for communication; co-authors are listed according to contribution.

Conflict of Interest. Must be avoided and/or transparently disclosed to the editor.

COPYRIGHT

Publication rights are managed by the editorial board while respecting the authors’ moral rights. Access and reuse follow CC BY 4.0. Articles are open access for education/research/library use; other uses are the user’s responsibility.

ONLINE SUBMISSION

Submissions are made via OJS: http://iontech.ista.ac.id. Steps:

1. Open the Registration Page

2. Complete Profile Data

  • Given Name & Family Name.
  • Affiliation, Country.

3. Create Login Credentials

  • Email, Username, Password (≥6 characters).

4. ORCID (Optional)

  • Connect your ORCID iD if available.

5. Complete Registration

  • Review your data & click Register; check the confirmation email.

6. Log In

  • Sign in and proceed to the manuscript submission page.

7. Start a New Submission

  • User HomeNew Submission; follow the OJS workflow.

8. Enter Article Metadata

  • Title, abstract, keywords, authors, affiliations, corresponding email.

9. Upload Manuscript

  • .docx format per template; provide a blind version for double-blind review.

10. Upload Supplementary Files

  • Tables, figures, data appendices (if any).

11. Confirm Submission

  • Final check and click Finish Submission.

12. Email Notification

  • Submission notification is sent; the editor starts pre-screening & review.
