Perjalanan dan perkembangan Jurnal IONTECH

Jurnal IONTech is a scientific journal published by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Institut Sains dan Teknologi Al-Kamal (ISTA), Jakarta, Indonesia.

The journal was first published in 2020 (Volume 1, Number 1) with the aim of providing a platform for the publication of research results, theoretical studies, and the application of knowledge in the fields of Engineering and pharmacy.

The topics covered include industrial engineering, information technology, biotechnology, data science, applied sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, and interdisciplinary studies.

Jurnal IONTech is published periodically twice a year, in February and August. Since its establishment, the journal has adopted a full open access policy, providing free access for readers and authors worldwide.

Over time, the journal has undergone several improvements in its management and publication system, including the adoption of the Open Journal System (OJS) platform, the use of plagiarism detection software, and the implementation of a double-blind peer review process.

This journal is committed to maintaining the quality of its publications through a rigorous selection process while upholding scientific publication ethics according to national and international standards.


Important Milestones in Journal Management:

  • 2020 – First issue of Jurnal IONTECH (Volume 1, No. 1)
  • 2021 – Adoption of the Open Journal System (OJS) platform
  • 2022 – Strengthening editorial team and peer review process
  • 2023 – Improved indexing and journal visibility
  • 2024 – National indexing roadmap 
  • 2025 – Migration to the more stable OJS 3.2 platform and inclusion in national indexing (Garuda).
  • 2026 – Preparation for national accreditation (SINTA) and implementation of a stricter plagiarism screening policy, reducing the maximum similarity threshold from 30% to 25% for all submitted manuscripts.  Preparation for DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) initiated on 27 December 2025; currently pending review, demonstrating commitment to international indexing and open access standards and enhancement of bilingual metadata (Indonesian–English) to improve international visibility, discoverability, and indexing performance
